Adele Announces Extended Hiatus from Performing After Vegas Residency: “I Will Not See You for an Incredibly Long Time”

The singer reflects on three years of performing and shares plans for a much-needed break.

Adele has announced that she will be taking an extended break from performing after completing her Las Vegas residency, leaving fans wondering when they might see the beloved singer on stage again. During the final night of her Munich residency, the Grammy-winning artist shared the emotional news with her audience, stating, “I have ten shows to do, but after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time.”

A Long-Awaited Break

This announcement comes after a grueling three years of near-nonstop performances, which Adele described as “the longest I’ve ever done and probably the longest I will ever do.” Her Munich residency was intended to be the grand finale following her “Weekends with Adele” residency in Las Vegas. However, health challenges, including a prolonged period of sickness that forced her to postpone some of the Vegas dates, have taken a toll on the singer, making her eager for a break.

“I just need a rest,” Adele confessed to the crowd at the custom-built Adele Arena in Munich. Visibly emotional, she continued, “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now… I will remember these shows for eternity because they have been spectacular.”

A Career of Intermissions

Adele is no stranger to taking extended breaks between albums and performances. The time between her albums has gradually increased over the years, with fans waiting three years for 21 after her debut album 19, four years for 25, and six years for her most recent release, 30. If this pattern continues, it could be a considerable wait for Adele’s next album.

In July, Adele hinted at her impending hiatus, saying, “I don’t have any plans for new music, at all. I want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.” This hiatus also seems to be influenced by her personal life, as she has been focusing on building a new life for herself and recently confirmed her engagement to boyfriend Rich Paul.

Emotional Farewell

During her final Munich performance, Adele’s voice trembled with emotion as she addressed her fans, “This is my final moment with you now. I would like to thank you again, thank you so much for coming to my show. I would like to thank anyone who’s ever come to my shows, ever.”

As Adele prepares to take a step back from the spotlight, her fans are left with cherished memories of her powerful performances and a longing for her eventual return. While the wait may be long, the singer’s promise to “hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break” offers some comfort to those who will miss her unmistakable presence on stage.
