Jared Leto is set to take on another villainous role, this time as the iconic Skeletor in Amazon MGM’s live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe. The announcement confirms Leto will face off against Nicholas Galitzine (Red, White & Royal Blue, Bottoms), who stars as the heroic He-Man.
Assembling Skeletor’s Villainous Crew
Joining Leto’s Skeletor are his infamous cronies:
- Trap Jaw, played by Sam C. Wilson (The Flash)
- Tri-Klops, portrayed by Kojo Attah (The Woman King)
- Goat Man, embodied by strongman Hafthor Bjornsson (Game of Thrones)
Rounding out the cast are Alison Brie as Skeletor’s sorceress ally, Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as the noble Man-at-Arms, and Riverdale’s Camila Mendes as Teela, He-Man’s trusted companion and the daughter of Man-at-Arms.
Reviving a Toy-Based Classic
The Masters of the Universe franchise originated from a Mattel toy line in 1982, evolving into an animated series, comics, and a cult-classic 1987 live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor. This latest installment is part of Mattel’s ambitious cinematic universe, which includes projects like Barbie (2023) and upcoming films for Polly Pocket, Barney, and American Girl.

The new Masters of the Universe will be helmed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee) with a fresh vision for the epic battle between He-Man and Skeletor.
