The “Freaky Friday” sequel is set to hit theaters in 2025.
Lindsay Lohan has officially wrapped up filming Freakier Friday, the highly anticipated sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday. Just three days after co-star Jamie Lee Curtis commemorated the final Friday on set, Lohan took to social media to express her emotions on their last Monday of filming.
“My heart is so full,” Lohan wrote in her heartfelt post. “I’m so grateful to have made this film, a story of family, mothers and their children, and a film filled with love, laughter, and a ton of heart! It has been a pleasure to work with my dear friend @jamieleecurtis, who brings so much joy to our set every day and has made this all the more special!”

Curtis, in her own post, affectionately referred to Lohan as “my ULTIMATE movie daughter.”
Freakier Friday, which is scheduled for a 2025 release, has been a long time coming. The original Freaky Friday hit theaters in August 2003, before Curtis starred in Christmas with the Kranks and before Lohan’s breakout role in Mean Girls.
Curtis recently teased the sequel during an interview at D23, describing it as “way freakier” and “more loving, more emotional.” She added, “It’s a movie about life. The first movie was about love and loss and life, and this is just freakier.”
The sequel will reunite Lohan and Curtis with several cast members from the original film, including Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Haley Hudson, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Stephen Tobolowsky, Rosalind Chao, and Lucille Soong. The movie promises not only to be freakier but also funnier, with Lohan sharing that it includes more physical comedy than the original.
“There’s more physical comedy in this. Much more than the original,” Lohan revealed at D23. “I love that. Put up a glass door and let me fake walk into it. Where do I get to trip?”
Freakier Friday is shaping up to be a nostalgic yet fresh take on the beloved mother-daughter body-swap story that captured audiences over two decades ago. Fans can look forward to seeing Lohan and Curtis bring their magic back to the big screen in 2025.
