Marisa Tomei Reflects on Watching Tom Holland and Zendaya Grow and Fall in Love During Spider-Man Trilogy

Marisa Tomei, who played Aunt May in the recent Spider-Man trilogy, shared some heartfelt reflections on her experience working alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya. During a panel at Fan Expo 2024 in Toronto, Tomei fondly spoke about witnessing the young actors grow up and fall in love while working on the films.

“I think some of the favorite things were really just watching Tom and Zendaya grow up and watching them fall in love… and seeing their phenomenal talent,” Tomei remarked. She expressed her admiration for the pair, saying, “Some people are just meant for it, and they are meant for it.”

Tomei praised Holland and Zendaya for their multifaceted talents, noting how they manage to balance their enormous star power with staying grounded and authentic. “They carry enormous, enormous star power, enormous power and they manage to be real people at the same time,” she said. “They sing, they dance, they act, they do stunts, they design fashion. I mean, what are they not doing? They’re incredible, incredible people.”

The trio worked together on three Marvel blockbusters: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), which collectively grossed over $1.5 billion at the box office. During this time, Holland and Zendaya developed a close bond, eventually confirming their off-screen relationship in 2021.

Tomei’s reflections highlight the deep connections formed behind the scenes of one of Marvel’s most successful franchises, adding a layer of warmth to the on-screen chemistry that fans have come to love.
