Adjusting to the WNBA
Clark’s transition from college to the WNBA has been a learning curve. “The game seems a little fast for me right now,” she told ESPN. “The more I play and the more comfortable I get, it’s going to slow down a little bit.” Her initial full WNBA debut saw her score 20 points but was marred by 10 turnovers in a 92-71 loss to the Connecticut Sun.

Despite the loss, the Fever’s home opener drew a sellout crowd of 17,247 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. In attendance were Clark’s former University of Iowa coaches, Lisa Bluder and Jan Jensen. Bluder recently announced her retirement after 24 years, finishing as the winningest women’s basketball coach in Big Ten history, with Jensen set to succeed her.

Despite the mixed performances, Fever coach Christie Sides remains optimistic about Clark’s development. “It’s a process and she’s going to be fine,” Sides said. Clark’s full WNBA debut drew 2.1 million viewers, the largest WNBA audience in two decades, peaking at 2.3 million viewers on Disney+, ESPN2, and ESPN+.
